Laborer (2 Positions) East Bay
The Facilities Development & Operations department provides general maintenance and cleaning services across campus, supports special event set-up and take-down, assists with minor furniture-moving projects, and secures buildings and equipment from unauthorized access. The Laborer position is responsible for special event set-up and take-down; loading and unloading furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials; removing and hauling waste and recyclables from central aggregation areas and event or clean-up sites; and performing a variety of manual labor duties. Laborers perform tasks such as moving heavy furniture, equipment, and materials; cleaning assigned areas, including removing construction debris; cleaning gutters, culverts, drainage structures, roadsides, and streets; power washing; cleaning equipment; and supporting special cleaning projects. They assist crafts and construction workers with unskilled tasks, including preparing work areas, rough repairs, tearing down structures, patching pavement, and performing pick-and-shovel work. Additional duties include grounds maintenance (pruning, trimming, spraying, removing undergrowth and debris, and preparing areas with hand tools), operating and performing basic preventive maintenance on hand and powered tools and equipment, and, in some cases, driving a motor vehicle to transport and deliver materials.
