The Department of English and Comparative Literature at San Diego State University seeks a scholar of Black Atlantic/ Diasporic Literature and Culture for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level. We are open to relevant areas of specialization or secondary concentration that might include, but are not limited to, the literatures and languages of the Caribbean, post-colonial literature and theory, and the literatures of Atlantic-adjacent countries or regions. SDSU’s English and Comparative Literature department offers a range of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, including several in creative writing, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to the department’s broad commitment to diversity by meeting curricular needs and proposing new areas of study. The successful candidate will have a record of professional success and publication(s) in relevant areas and some teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Specific duties include but are not limited to: managing federal SEVIS reporting requirements on behalf of Cal State East Bay (i.e. communication with the Department of Homeland Security about the F-1 students admitted to and attending Cal State East Bay); assisting international students (F-1) to understand the complex nature of the legal status in the U.S. vis à-vis federal regulations and university academic policies and procedures; assisting international students to obtain immigration benefits such as curricular practical training & optional practical training; assisting with on-going services such as orientation, immigration workshops and other non-immigration focused programs; and assisting with international recruitment efforts, as needed. |

The Department of American Indian Studies at San Diego State University, situated on the traditional homelands of the Kumeyaay Nation, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies to teach a variety of interdisciplinary courses in American Indian Studies. Applicants must demonstrate expertise in teaching and research from a decolonial perspective, proficiency in Ethnic Studies methodologies, and the ability to teach classes that count towards the new CSU Ethnic Studies Graduation Requirement. Research connected to California Indian communities is preferred, but not required.
