The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) helps migratory and seasonal farmworkers (or children of such workers) who are 16 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in school to obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma and, subsequently, to gain employment or begin postsecondary education or training. |

The work is not only meaningful for staff, but also for the underprivileged youth in the program, as they get the opportunity to receive further educational assistance that would otherwise
be unavailable given their circumstances. The K-12 Homeless Youth Students Deserve Success program connects CSUSB students to unhoused youth residing in San Bernardino. CSUSB Students are able integrate their understanding of individual differences, motivation, and subject content to provide academic support to students grades K-12. The Tutor Coordinator role will design and assign educational activities, monitor student progress on homework completion, and perform tutor responsibilities such as cleaning and organizing the classroom supplies. This position will engage and build relationships with students, parents and program personnel, help students develop teamwork and leadership skills, and provide academic guidance. The Tutor Coordinator must be able to diffuse verbal and emotional conflicts, provide emotional support, and enforce rules to provide an engaging learning environment. |
