The Department of Anthropology at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2024 to teach Anthropology 328: Body and Identity. This course explores the social construction and performances of the body and identity through a cross-cultural look at definitions and meanings of the body, codes inscribed on it by our everyday practices (wearing makeup, working out), and choices of decorative markers (clothing, jewelry, tattoos, piercings). How are gender, race, ethnicity, and power status signaled by the body? How is rebellion enacted through the body? Anthropological perspectives are used to explore how people approach these issues across cultural, economic, political, social, and religious contexts.

The Department of Art, Media, and Design at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2024 to teach AMD 102: The Computer and Visual Arts. The course meets on Fridays, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. and encompasses both lecture and lab. This studio course introduces the computer as a tool for making art and analyzes the work of contemporary artists utilizing the computer and digital imagery in a variety of formats. Students apply two-dimensional design principles to projects utilizing text and image.
