PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $4,598.00 per month to $5,200.00 per month.

About the Position

The Career Empowerment Center (CEC) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as the Employer Relations Associate. This role is ideal for candidates with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills who are eager to support students and connect with employers. This position will primarily focus on supporting employer engagement efforts, event planning, communications and marketing outreach, and collaborating with on-campus partners to support students in their next steps after graduation.

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Employer Relations, the Employer Relations Associate will assist in building and maintaining relationships with employers to expand internship and job opportunities for students. Key responsibilities include supporting employer engagement efforts through job postings, career events, and on-campus visits; organizing career fairs and workshops; and assisting with student-employer connections and experiences to enhance hiring outcomes for students.

The role requires coordination with internal partners such as student organizations, faculty, and staff to ensure students are prepared to meet employer expectations. This position will also assist students by sharing insights from the employer community, including best practices for recruitment and employer requirements. Local travel may occasionally be required to meet with employers or attend networking events. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop professional skills in career services and employer relations while supporting the success of Cal State East Bay students.

Responsibilities

Event Planning:

  • Coordinate career fairs and recruitment events, both in-person and virtual, including employer outreach and event logistics.
  • Organize all aspects of the events from conception to completion including but not limited to: goals/objectives, detailed timelines and task list, budgets, scheduling rooms/venues, staffing and assignments, logistics, transportation, custodial, catering/hospitality, décor, entertainment, supplies and promotional items needed and researching venues.
  • Develop and improve processes and procedures related to these events.
  • Direct the activities of staff working at these events to ensure quality services are provided through the event programming.
  • Ensure all aspects of the events follow university policies and procedures.
  • Serve as primary contact for all event related questions.
  • Participate in outreach activities to promote and advertise the events.
  • Coordinate event promotion and communication (emails, newsletters, Handshake feed) to students.
  • Design flyers, social media posts, and other marketing materials for employer events.
  • Manage content for event related websites, including general event information, registration processes for attendees and campus partners/volunteers and confirmations.
  • Assess web content regularly to ensure that relevant and up to date information is presented and make necessary recommendations.
  • Monitor event attendance.
  • Enhance employer engagement efforts through job posting support (Handshake).
  • Liaison with staff, faculty, and student groups to enhance existing career events.
  • Coordinate off-campus experiential learning opportunities (e.g. employer site visits) by supporting the application process, employer outreach, and other event logistics.
  • Track success outcomes for students as a result of these employer engagement opportunities.

Employer Engagement:

  • Support existing employer relationships through regular follow-up meetings.
  • Research relevant industry and regional job market trends to inform outreach to potential employer partners.
  • Communicate with and support alumni interested in leading career development opportunities and mentoring students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
  • General knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  • One (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to plan, coordinate and initiate actions necessary to implement events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to reason logically, analyze and define organizational and operating problems and implement appropriate responses.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with current social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of technical applications necessary for the functions of the office (e.g. internet browsers/search engines, word processing software, Excel, Google suite, etc.).
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. to carry event materials.
  • Ability to foster and maintain productive and positive working relationships.

Special Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in the evenings and weekends when needed. 
  • Events will include outdoor activities.
  • Automobile travel may be necessary.  
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and comply with the Defensive Drivers Training program requirements if a vehicle is used to travel on official business.

Condition(s) of Employment

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including LiveScan, as appropriate), that may include, but is not limited to: criminal records check, verification of academic credentials, licenses, certificates, credit history, professional references and/or verification of work history is required for employment.  Cal State East Bay will issue a conditional offer of employment to the selected candidate, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Unsatisfactory results may also affect the continued employment of current Cal State East Bay employees who were conditionally offered the position.

All background checks are conducted through the university's third party vendor, Accurate. LiveScan is conducted through the University Police Department.
