Salary Range: $4,570-$6,658/Monthly

 

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; temporary appointment expires on/or before one-year from date of hire, may be extended, may become permanent; non-exempt classification.

 

Essential Functions: The Graphic Designer is responsible for the artistic and graphic design and creation of print and multimedia materials. The incumbent will use both design and production elements to organize ideas visually to convey the desired impact and message to the target audience. The incumbent will design and create a wide range of materials, including, but not limited to, printed materials, classroom lectures, exhibits, training sessions, television broadcasts, videos, web sites and public information projects. The incumbent will be using a wide range of mediums, including but not limited to print, digital, and social media marketing. Work is used both in classroom instruction and to reach a variety of internal and external audiences. In addition to aesthetic judgement and project management skills, incumbent provides expertise in the development and evaluation of effective communication strategies and techniques.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Fundamental foundations of design, layout, and typography. Paid experience in the graphic design field, preparing electronic and printed graphic materials such as displays, layout design for websites, brochures, descriptive charts, presentations, etc. Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and lnDesign. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills and participation in constructive conversations on design concepts or professional development areas. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and team-oriented atmosphere. Ability to use and maintain currency with applicable computer software packages and systems. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications: Photography experience. Knowledge of website design principles. Understanding of the different social media platforms. Candidates with portfolio of sample work.
