Position Summary
The Student Workforce Coordinator plays a key leadership role in shaping the student employee experience within the Office of the Registrar while ensuring exceptional front-line service for the campus community. This position recruits, trains, coaches, and coordinates a team of student assistants who serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and the public across virtual phone, email, and in-person service channels. By managing daily staffing, anticipating peak service periods, and developing meaningful training and professional development opportunities, the coordinator helps student employees build valuable workplace skills while delivering accurate and responsive support. Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop student assistants, building their customer service, critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional skills.
- Coordinate daily workforce operations, including scheduling, work assignments, service coverage, and staffing adjustments based on registration cycles and anticipated demand.
- Monitor student assistant performance and service trends to identify training needs, recurring questions, and opportunities to improve the customer experience.
- Develop and maintain training materials, procedures, and knowledge resources to ensure consistent and accurate communication of policies and processes.
- Provide guidance on escalated or complex inquiries, determining appropriate resolutions or referrals while collaborating with Registrar functional areas.

Position Information
- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
- This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary
Enrollment Services comprises Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Prospective Student Services, Out of State Recruitment and Strategic Partnerships, International Recruitment, Enrollment Services Communications, and Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, and the Cal Coast Student Financial Center. Enrollment Services implements SDSU enrollment management policies and provides services to students from their initial point of interest in SDSU to their graduation.
The primary function of the Office of the Registrar is to represent enrollment management programs and provide enrollment services to various constituents across the university in regard to the student academic record, academic class scheduling, and student advising tools. The Office of the Registrar provides service to the students through determination of eligibility for admission to the University, evaluation of academic records to determine the status of completion of degree requirements, assistance with course registration, and advising on the academic record in relation to transfer credit or CSU/SDSU policy. The Office of the Registrar has three managers, two assistant directors, and 34 staff of varying classifications across four distinct units.

Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Key Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of university infrastructure, policies, procedures, and office administration practices, with expertise in using office software, technology, and administrative systems.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities and projects, interpret and apply policies where specific guidelines may not exist, and exercise sound judgment and discretion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot administrative and operational issues, anticipate broader impacts, and develop, recommend, and evaluate effective solutions.
- Working knowledge of budget processes and business mathematics, including the ability to track and analyze financial data, calculate ratios and percentages, and prepare accurate projections.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including preparing professional correspondence and reports, handling sensitive interactions at all organizational levels, and using negotiation and persuasion to achieve results.
- Experience managing student employee programs is preferred.
- Experience maintaining chatbot systems and coordinating social media is preferred.
- One or more years in a high-volume university administrative setting is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret academic policies and enrollment procedures is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department’s budget and equity guidelines.
- Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,367).
- Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,367 – $6,362 per month (Step 1 – Step 20).
- Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
