JOB SUMMARY

Successful candidates will provide high-quality supervision and mentoring to student teachers and intern teachers. They will also participate in program events, training, meetings, attend new student teacher orientation and university supervisor professional development. The supervisor will further establish and maintain positive relationships among the resident teachers, credential programs and the Teacher Education and Foundations Department.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

• Supervise student teachers at school sites on bi-weekly basis and debrief with them
• Mentor student teachers
• Conduct mid-term and final evaluations and post their grades in a timely manner.
• Assist student teachers with the CalTPA
• Assist student teachers with the New Literacy Standards
• Respond to general questions from students
• Participate in the Supervisor Learning Community and Networking
• Assist student teachers in dealing with day-to-day problems they may have in the classroom.


Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education
• California issued certification in K-12 in teaching and/or administrative experience
• 10 years of successful teaching experience in the K-12 setting
• Familiarity with K-12 educational policies in California
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion
• Passionate about working with student teachers who are themselves English learners

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in hand by time of appointment. (specify degree or degrees)
• California issued certification in K-12 in teaching and/or administrative experience
• 10 years of successful teaching experience in the K-12 setting
• Familiarity with K-12 educational policies in California

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• California-issued certification in teaching
• Minimum of 10 years teaching in K-12 setting
• Previous supervisory/mentoring experience
• Available to work during weekdays from 8 am – 3:30 pm
• Demonstrate effectiveness in working with student teachers who are themselves English learners.

Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Lecturer A                           (Range 2) - $5,507 – $6,677

Lecturer B                           (Range 3) - $6,221 – $13,224

Lecturer C                           (Range 4) - $6,825 – $14,523

Lecturer D                           (Range 5) - $8,593 – $15,211
