The Department of Social Work at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for spring 2025 to teach MSW 662 Social Work with Older Adults. The course is a 3-unit class, has one 3-hour class each week of the 15-week semester, and is taught in a hybrid format (select weeks will be online and the others are in-person at the San Marcos campus). The course is scheduled for Mondays from 2:00-4:50 pm.

Course Description

Examines an ecosystemic and culturally informed approach to the biological, cultural, ethnic, gender, geographic, psychological, and social issues of relevance to older adults. Explores theories on aging and assessments and interventions in social work with older adult populations.   

Minimum qualifications:

  • A Master of Social Work
  • Five years of post-MSW experience
  • Four years of post-MSW experience working with older adults in social work settings
  • Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working within the State of California is a condition of employment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Experience with adult protective services
  • A doctoral degree in Social Work or in a closely related field
  • Experience in teaching university classes and with instructional technology

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience

  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
