About the Position

This is a full-time, temporary position through June 30, 2026 with the possibility of reappointment. 

This temporary position works under direct supervision of the Director of Education Technology Services to perform clearly defined tasks of reprographics functions. Work requires the ability to use and /or quickly learn basic computerized systems and equipment typically used in reprographics operations. This role will provide data to the Director of Education Technology Services to maintain and/or improve services and pricing within the area.

Responsibilities

Business Services 

  • Provide recommendations for the equipment in Print Shop 
  • Support systems that facilitate the input and output of print/copy jobs that enter into the Print Shop area
  • Provide support for Print Center website
  • Provide support for Print Center Online Store
  • Service equipment or systems quickly and efficiently with minimal disruption
  • Provide usage and other data and reports to management
  • Provide guidance on vendor relationships where needed 

Printing/Duplicating Services

  • Service and monitor Print Shop hardware
  • Troubleshoot networks, card readers, and printing devices
  • Create and maintain accounts for users as needed
  • Track program activities on server, alerts, printer queues, job releases and release station connectivity

Data Analytics and Operational Support

  • Provide feedback into analytical data feeding into Print Shop
  • Provide input as to rate pricing
  • Track equipment usage and statistics to ensure optimal performance
  • Observe data patterns and offer input for improvement as needed

Information Technology Assistance 

  • Track Cal State East Bay service desk ticket requests for the Digital Printers and Copier Services group as well as any print related inquiries 
  • Configure systems to optimize operations, meet connectivity needs and future expansion requirements
  • Provide multiple pathways for customers to assist them with print, copy, duplicating, and digital signature solutions
  • Other duties assigned by the appropriate administrator

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a high school education or equivalent certification plus one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Working knowledge of reprographics operations and functions.
  • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the position.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  • Associate of Arts degree in electronics, telecommunications, or industrial technology or equivalent education, training, and/or directly related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic (digital or analog) theories, mechanical design, and understanding of the operation and use of the equipment and systems commonly utilized in the duplicating/printing area.
  • Knowledge of enterprise printers and configuring, maintaining, and deploying of such printers.
  • Knowledge of fleet printing.
  • Experience with vendor relationships with large enterprise print companies and/or partners.
  • Experience working with large format duplicating equipment.
  • Working knowledge of equipment that pertains to printing, duplicating, and post-print production work such as but not limited to. cutting, binding, and lamination.
  • Experience working with enterprise-wide printers. 
  • Experience supporting printers in an environment of greater than 500 customers.
  • Demonstrated prior experience working with enterprise-wide printing equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including LiveScan, as appropriate), that may include, but is not limited to: criminal records check, verification of academic credentials, licenses, certificates, credit history, professional references and/or verification of work history is required for employment.  Cal State East Bay will issue a conditional offer of employment to the selected candidate, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. All background checks are conducted through the university's third party vendor, Accurate. LiveScan is conducted through the University Police Department.
