About the Position:
The Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) collaborates with various campus units to secure external support for faculty research, scholarship, creative activity, and institutional projects that align with the University’s educational and service mission of the university. The ORSP specializes in assisting with proposal preparation, review, and submission to external funding agencies, ensuring compliance with agency requirements, leading the compliance review of grant awards, and issuing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, subcontracts, and related agreements. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Senior Director of Sponsored Programs (Administrator III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Research and Sponsored Programs (AVPRSP), the Senior Director of Sponsored Programs is responsible for the administration of grants and contracts (Office of Grants and Contracts and Sponsored Programs) in the university.

Essential Qualifications
|
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or the equivalent. Ten years of experience in research administration at a university, hospital, or research institute, preferably in a pre-award and/or post-award office, with progressive sponsored programs or leadership duties. Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and issues. Extensive experience in review of sponsor guidelines/request for proposal (RFP), preparation of complex budgets, and proposal development, review and submission; familiarity with government and private submission processes and systems (i.e. grants.gov, Fastlane, NSPIRES, FEDCONNECT, etc.). Extensive experience in issuance, review, preparation, and negotiation of complex contracts, working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFAR), 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance), and other Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars/Uniform Guidance. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated success in supervision of staff. Excellent organizational skills.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications
|
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Out of a minimum of ten years of experience in research administration, at least five years at an institution of higher education. Knowledge of CSU policies. Experience using Cayuse.

License/Certifications
|
Certified Research Administrator (CRA).
