
Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager of Payroll Services, this position works as a key member of the Payroll Services Team to efficiently and effectively coordinate Payroll's administrative front office operations and provide front counter customer service support. These responsibilities include review and processing of incoming employee payroll documents such as new employee sign-in packets, direct deposit forms, preparing and verifying employment and salary history for external and internal inquires for CSULB and other CSU campuses. This position will provide customer support to employees by coordinating sign-in activities and answers to payroll and benefit related questions. This position will also provide general office support for the departments of Payroll, Benefits, HR Support Services and HR. Please note that due to the duties of the position, it is not eligible for remote work. The position is in the office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Support: Facilitate the on-boarding process for new employees by assisting with the completion of all required hiring documents to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Payroll, Benefits and HR Administration/Office Coordination: Review new employee documents to ensure adherence to the Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9) process as mandated by federal laws.
- Lead for Verifications of Employment Forms for CSULB and other CSU Campus in Cross-Campus Payroll Collaboration Project.
- Lead for Direct Deposit Forms for CSULB and other CSU Campus in Cross-Campus Payroll Collaboration Project.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Must be able to learn all requirements of the job. Must be able to understand and adhere to the laws regarding the protection of confidential information and security of employee data. Good listening and communication skills. (To understand employee's questions and respond appropriately.) Ability to understand the meaning of various HR data elements and use PeopleSoft HR and Finance to read data. Ability to provide accurate work in a timely manner. Ability to synthesize information and understand when to seek assistance of other staff in answering questions. Can multi-task and handle multiple priorities. Documentation skills; ability to organize materials for audit compliance and verification of results. Complete tasks with high level of accuracy. Education and Experience
• Equivalent to four years of administrative support experience required.
• Equivalent to two years of experience in preparing and processing payroll/personnel documents preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• Experience with similar job duties preferred.
• Position will need to work at the CSULB Payroll Office location 5 days per week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
• Experience with similar job duties preferred but not required.
Physical Summary
Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $3,864 - $4,000 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,864- $6,072 per month.

Time Base
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
