
Job Summary
This position is responsible for all academic support services for designated state support and self-support Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs and Master of Science (MS) graduate programs including, but not limited to, on-line admission processes, academic counseling, probation counseling, and monitoring of academic progress to meet degree requirements. Works directly with applicants, matriculated graduate students, program alumni, College of Business (COB) faculty and other administrators, the Center for International Education, the Career Development Center, Enrollment Services, and the College of Professional & Continuing Education (CPaCE).
Key Responsibilities
- Graduate Admissions - Uses the COB Graduate Programs Salesforce system, WebAdmit, and CSLink reports to track applicants that submit applications through the CAL STATE APPLY application system. Updates all relevant material for the Cal State Apply application system to ensure applications meet COB Graduate Programs requirements.
- Graduate Student Advising and Support - Advises potential applicants about the most appropriate CBA Graduate Program. Guides students with financial aid questions to appropriate CSULB offices. Advises students about college and university requirements.
- Cohort Administration - Prepares cohort calendars. Provides student support such as letters for employers, etc., including CPT and OPT requirements. Provides class rosters to teaching faculty.
- Course Scheduling - Prepares and submits course proposals to CPaCE. Works with program directors, department chairs, and Associate Dean for the stateside scheduling of classes including assignments of instructors and class capacities.
- Office Administration - Collects program information and provides support for the Graduate Program Director as needed. Manage student assistants when assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Demonstrates the ability to strategically plan and manage recurring Advisory Board activities while also initiating and advocating for innovative programs that enhance engagement. Brings relatable insight as a business administration-trained professional, fostering trust and connection with graduate students through shared academic and professional experiences. Effectively serves as a project manager for events and initiatives led by the Graduate Alumni Association and Graduate Business Association, driving meaningful participation from both students and alumni. Coordinates efforts between alumni and GBA stakeholders and professionally represents the COB Graduate Office across the university and in external settings.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields and three years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.
Physical Summary
- Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,540 - $7,893 per month.
